The Real Secret

In 2006 a movie called The Secret was distributed virally via the internet followed later by a book. In no time, the secret became a cultural and social phenomenon attracting interest from media figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Larry King and criticism from the press.

The secret is a series of interviews related to the idea of wishful thinking. Affirms that all you want can be achieved by wishing for it. This is known as the Law of Attraction. As described in the film, the "Law of Attraction" principle states that the feelings and thoughts can attract events, from the workings of the cosmos and the interactions among individuals in their physical affairs, emotional and professional.

Secret lists three required steps - "ask, believe and receive" - as the essence of the Law of Attraction:

Ask

Know what you want and ask the universe for her. Here is where it should be clear what you want to create and visualize what you want as being as "real" as possible.

Believe

Feel and behave as if the object of your desire is on its way. Focus your thoughts and words about what do you want to attract, even if you have to cheat to believe in him.

Receive

Be open to receive it. Pay attention to your intuitive messages and signs of the universe to help you along the way as ensuring that they are in the 'right path'. As we align ourselves with the universe and open yourself to receive, the same thing you want to manifest appear.

New Thought and the Law of Attraction

In essence, the secret is ... detailing the principles of New Thought movement that began in the late 19th century as the historical basis of their ideas.

The idea to the Law of Attraction was widely used by writers of New Thought. They referred to the idea that thoughts influence fate. The Law of Attraction states that thoughts (conscious and unconscious) can affect things outside the head, not just through the motivation, but by other means.

Several scientists have argued that many of the claims of the law are impossible, in violation of scientific principles and scientific knowledge of the universe. Instead, the law can be explained as an illusion created by the relationship between self-confidence and success or by his own perception, as the placebo effect.

I have seen the secret with my family after being released in 2007. Even my 9 year old daughter was fascinated with the film and glued to the screen. The idea that my children will believe that you just have to ask, believe and receive what they want, I got scared. If this is true we all would be healthy, wealthy and successful. But this is not the case.

It is a dangerous belief, and unfortunately very popular on the success of The Secret, they just have to think about what you want to get it.

I have no doubt that positive thinking, optimism and creative visualization are important. But an important basis for success in life is not mentioned in the secret.

Rhonda Byrne, The Secret creator, said in an interview with Newsweek that his inspiration for creating The Secret was his exposure to the book by Wallace Wattles The Science of Getting Rich. Reading The science of getting rich without doubt leave you feeling that the most important foundations for success were neglected in the secret.

The first foundation is the effective action.

Wattles writes that thought is the force that causes the creative power to work for us, but we should not rely on the simple thought, ignoring the action. This is where thought and action are. Wattless suggests that the action will be taken in a way. We must act effectively now!

We must act decisively, effectively and efficiently. We do not want to procrastinate with our decisions and actions resulting from our thoughts.

There is no other time than now. The past is history and the future does not exist yet. Even we have no guarantee that we will in the future. Every thought must be converted to action at the present time. How many times have we said "we will start tomorrow, next week, next month, next year ... and never started." When tomorrow, next week, next month or next year here ... we were busy with something else that consumes our attention, focus and priority.

The second foundation is improved.

As leaders, or simply human beings, our main objective is to improve, advance and enrich every person who comes into contact with. We inspire, encourage and motivate everyone around us. Everyone wants a better life. Everyone wants more of your life. We have something to give someone else who is just looking for that something. We just have to make a conscious decision to act accordingly. Teachers, doctors, psychologists are professionals who improve the lives of others. But that does not mean that each of us in our own roles in the profession, family and community can not find a way to improve the lives of others.

Of course we can!

Whether you work as an accountant, customer, salesperson, administrative assistant or secretary, you have something unique that can enhance, enrich and improve the lives of others. If we find it, let's define our goal and begin a new journey to our real mission in life, success and leadership.
